What do you do after you exchange a business card? Many people just file them away. If you want to stay fresh in someone’s memory and keep building the relationship, this can be a big mistake.
A quick check-in soon after you meet someone is important for building trust and letting the person know they matter to you.
With Eight’s quick scanning function, you can email or send a message to someone right after you scan their card.
In the first stage, Eight uses OCR (optical character recognition) to immediately recognize and digitize the card’s information. This means the contact will appear in your network straight away.
Android users: Tap [+] on the home screen to scan cards with Quick scan. To send an email, tap [Network] on the home screen, and tap the email address on the person’s profile page.
If a card you scanned belongs to an Eight user, you’ll be connected automatically, and you’ll be able to view their profile and send them a message right away.
Android users: Tap [Message] on the home screen to send messages.
Please note that this is right after the initial scan, with based on the automatic recognition. This allows you to quickly make contact with your new connection.
Most card scanning apps stop after that first scan. Not Eight.
OCR is good, but it can have trouble with unclear text, unusual fonts and spacing, and other things that make letters hard to read. Eight then uses real human operators to manually enter and correct all data, so you’ll get near-perfect data without having to clean it up.
